To my aging PC brother and sisters: Is my memory slowly failing me because I think "playing at 60 FPS" didn't hold significance before flat screen displays? I grew up in PAL country so consumer TVs were 50Hz, but I recall PC monitors being 72, 75, 85, 90Hz. I don't recall shooting for 60.

Logitech: "oh noes we dun wanna make replaceable mouse batteries for EU. these things can be volatile and have such fragile wires" Then just use AA(A) rechargeable batteries, you dense fucks. I already used those in my Game Boy in 1990.

#gamedev question: Do you know when you work on a new feature but you see like 7 ways to implement it but none of them seems "right" and they all have exclusive pros and cons attached to them and you hesitate cause all of them are a lot of work so you don't wanna commit? How do you deal with that or is it just me and I'm just uniquely bad at designing anything?

#godotengine devs, I got a question: So I made myself some nice input prompts that show icons/text based on the input device and mapping. They live in a handy scene so I can make stuff like "Press [ESC] to open menu". But so I need "Label | InputPrompt | Label". Which is fine for simple prompts - but not very flexible. What if I just wanna add these prompt to text dynamically aka "Press %input1 to do this and %input2 to do that"? I can ne...

Been playing Motorslice and it's a lot of fun. The game could have done without the collectibles - kinda breaks the flow. But it's there for those who wanna explore and since there's no reward tied to them - it's fine.

We shouldn't say that AI is "hallucinating" or "making things up". Let's just call it "Clanker propaganda".

"Tech" isn't bad. The "Tech industry" is. "Gaming" isn't bad. The "Gaming Industry" is. See, soon as you add an "industry" to it, you run into problems. Mostly hyper capitalism and greed.

I'm having the worst onslaught of impostor syndrome, yet. I talk so much about making my silly game, act like I know what I'm doing, know what's fun, how to make games... and what do I have to show after all these years? Not even a demo, yet. Can't even make a fucking tutorial work.

I like how when you use the Discord "app", it will just sit there and continue to eat away at your RAM until it eventually - from what I can tell - notices that something is wrong, reloads itself and begins again. Discord is such jank garbage. EDIT: I noticed it helps a lot if you are in as few servers as possible. So I assume it's the thing fetching updates but never freeing memory after doing so.

It's amazing how Blender took a step back, thought about the feedback they received from the community, acted on it and a big chunk of the community went "nope, not good enough" and/or "your first mistake was irredeemable already". It's like ... if I were in such a situation, my takeaway would now be: if the community takes offense in the future, I might as well ignore it cause reaching out won't change much.

I was *just* complaining that Arch wasn't running linux 7.0 yet and just a few hours later, they responded to my complaints. If just everyone would just listen to me all the time, the world would be a better place. Yes. Indeed.

Man, technology was just so much more reliable, durable, sturdy and repairable a few decades back. "oh but technology today is just so much more complex and miniaturized - so of course there are more failure points!" you say that as if that makes it reasonable. It doesn't.

Humans have this really weird thing where when they see something is bad, they wanna regulate it or even make it illegal. Except money. The thing that globally causes most pain and trauma. We're all motivated to chase the addiction of getting more of it.

I think my cat is an SCP. Description: Each day the cat loses more hair than he has on his body. The mechanism in which he generates so much lose hair is currently not understood by the Foundation. Also he's a white cat. Class changed from Euclid to Keter.

Do you think that's rust on the Mythbusters logo? I think it's rust. You know why? Because if it is, I can say 'Mythbusters was written in Rust before it was cool'.

Turns out, some of the new pieces are pushing too hard in terms of curvature. Was designing them with some of the old crossroads in mind which work fine. But I didn't consider how much of a difference a marble driving into a straight rail would make. Spoiler: it's a lot. So, redesign or scrap.

I like to think I have been working a lot on saving up some karma, but realistically I probably haven't cause I can be so stubborn and selfish, so I'm probably gonna be in one hell of a ride when I'm gonna need all that karma I wish I had.
