  I was thinking of ways I could use my new GoPro as I don’t do much in the way of “action” in the way they market it. Then I thought about “direct action”. I know people already feel a way about protests, but it’s a good way to show force in numbers. Outside of that, I thought about ICE verifications. It be nice to have something like a body cam on me or a small discrete camera around. Then, my last thought was similar to a body/dash cam for police interactions when just existing.

  Another reason why Amazon and capitalism is complete shit: While people focus on AI slop, Amazon is full of physical slop which makes it hard to determine what is actually a good product to purchase.   We have gone past the “vote with your wallet” phase of consumer activism as an effective tool. The billionaire class that runs the world does not care. They produce things on a massive scale and make sure that our lives depend on it or attach it to things we depend on. They will get your money regardless! This is theft and violence!   Yes, everything is inherently political. But I feel that a lot of people’s politics are purely reactionary in nature. The tech space has fallen into the same neoliberal tendencies we see in other spaces where the wrong identity politics get played. We are quick to demonize someone for how they do things instead of looking at the historical and material reasons as to why we got here. And the space is kept too busy for anyone to really dig into it.

  Why is privacy conversations are focused on the user as opposed to who’s trying to violate our privacy? If we focus on the individual instead of the systemic issue, aren’t we just allowing the abuse to continue? Why not take out those who are abusing the data collection in the first place? I like to have the data that the things I use produce. I don’t, however, consent to the collection of that data. A part of giving users choice is to choose who gets to listen.
