Is something wrong with the TV? No, why? I’ve just seen two consecutive commercials without David Beckham.

I’ve seen only one decent photo of the buckled column in the Manhattan building that’s been evacuated. Looks like a wide flange section with plates stitch-welded between the flanges to make a box. It’s buckled in the weak direction with local buckling on the compression side of the flange. Maybe the welding wasn’t sufficient to make the section and the plates act as a single unit, which would reduce the column’s buckling strength in the weak direction. https://abc7ny.com/post/midtown-east-buil...

@agiletortoise Journalists always think journalism is the most important thing in the world. Which is silly, because we all know it’s structural engineering.

I have a few quasi-medical appointments next week, so I’ve been getting reminder texts from those offices today. When each text arrives, Siri pops up a notification, suggesting that I might want to add an event to my calendar. Of course, I already have the events in my calendar, so the main purpose of these notifications is to remind me that Apple’s promises from nearly two years ago still haven’t been fulfilled.

Remember how nice it was to be able to click and drag from almost anywhere along the title bar? We didn’t feel that space was wasted even back when we had only 342 pixels vertically.

I was at a local bar playing trivia tonight and didn’t get to see any of the Sixers/Magic game because they don’t subscribe to Amazon Prime. There were at least a dozen TVs showing Andre Agassi playing pickleball.
