The permit for using my kayak on county lakes was free this year because I started the season as a senior citizen.

I got my NPS/Recreational Lands Senior Pass back when it was still $10, but even at today’s $80, we would still save the cost every year. Campsites end up costing half the regular fee and we generally go out for a few days a couple of times a year and take lots of day trips to NPS sites with user fees.
