Wednesday easy run with Coxhoe on the run up to kelloe, across to quarrington hill then back into coxhoe. Warm with a cool breeze in places. I didn't post yesterday's abortive run that didn't end well but tonight made up for it. #running #runnersofmastodon #garmin #beatyesterday

Another cracking Wednesday easy run with Coxhoe on the run. A short run on a beautiful cool evening up to the plantation above Kelloe and back through Quarrington hill. Lovely gentle run in good company. #running #runnersofmastodon

Tuesday Tempo repeat around the Wear in Durham. Cool clear and sunny with a river filling up with college boats. One crew were having the procedure for starting at the regatta explained to them. It's a whole four days away, plenty of time to practice. A beautiful run with only an altercation with an uncontrolled dog and his oblivious owner creating a bit of unnecessary stress. #running #runnersofmastodon

Monday morning #sculling on the Wear 4x Bluewater. A gorgeous morning and a little more water in the river. A double session with both regatta pieces feeling strong and fast. One more practice on Friday before city on Saturday. #rowing #rowersofmastodon

We are back out on Monday #sculling on the Wear. A slight mechanical on the steering foot resulted in a return to the boathouse for some pliers. Standard Monday after that, warm up, turned early at counts house, start, ten and fifty then steady through Elvet picking up counting strokes at baths bridge before a regatta piece, up and in. Cool but dry. The new blades are setup to match the rest of the crew. It's great knowing I'll not have to fight whoever keeps setting the club bla...

Taking it easy this morning on a cool grey morning. Reversed bits of my normal route around the river Wear through Durham and made it back to the racecourse to otter watch for a few minutes opposite Hilda Bede boat club. #running #runnersofmastodon

Wednesday easy run with Coxhoe on the run. A cool but clear sunny evening. I may regret the race home as I'm out tomorrow morning. #running #runnersofmastodon

Thursday rather than Friday #Sculling on the Wear, 4x Bluewater. Our settled short trip and a half session, warm up. Starts, start and fifty, up to the regatta start. Regatta piece then counting strokes. Fastest regatta piece by some way and best count on counting strokes. Sometimes less is more. #rowing #rowersofmastodon

A rather dreich Saturday morning #Sculling on the Wear in Bluewater (4x). A little late on the water as the other crew that use the boat had adjusted the steering, swapped over shoes and left the boat unsteerable. Club life. Exercises and steady rowing this morning, the outing had a hard finish at 9am due to other commitments. #rowing #rowersofmastodon

Sunday blustery long run with Coxhoe on the run. Ferryhill rail crossing reverse, cold win but sunshine. A nice steady run. A few grumbles from my knee on the run home (bonus 3km) which I'm tempted to put down to my running shoes. Some experiments this week. Stopped off at the lamplight for a coffee and to celebrate a 70th. #running #runnersofmastodon

Another Monday #sculling on the Wear. Shorts didn't feel right at -2 degrees but we persevered. Normal trip and a half session. Warmup Dow to the pool, starts then a start and fifty stroke piece to Kingsgate. Counting strokes after Elvet and a regatta piece before cool down back to the clubhouse. A second off our regatta piece time and equalled our counting strokes record, down hill from here. #rowing #rowersofmastodon

A cold bright run through Durham. Just above freezing with a beautiful inversion over the river. Hard to get going but better than sitting in the office. #running #runnersofmastodon

A wet Wednesday easyish run with Coxhoe on the run. Trying to find the less muddy paths, I wasn't feeling it but still managed a pb up to the tip and a second back on escape from cornforth. Too much time in a meeting room with a cold that is proving hard to shake. #running #runnersofmastodon

After a few days of lurgy, resting and generally just slacking off I'm getting set-up for next week. I recently purchased a set of concept2 sculls, delivered yesterday. At 288cm I had visions of hand carrying them down to the club this morning. After a little seat tweaking it turns out there is possible to fit these inside my very untidy id3. If I'd been carrying them I was debating wearing an all in one. #rowing #sculling

Pie and Peas 5km run on a beautiful warm evening. A great mix of rutted fields, paths through trees and hills and more hills. Somewhere around 24:15 but ill see when the chip time is published.#running #runnersofmastodon

Friday morning single #sculling on the Wear. A little grey and misty but a beautiful morning all the same. One of the swans seems to be getting aggressive again, possibly due to my poor line through Elvet. The tourist barge / prince bishops is up by the club rather than at its normal position next to the bridge and the missing landmark threw me. #rowing #rowersofmastodon #garmin #beatyesterday

Saturday morning #sculling on the Wear 4x Bluewater. Stroke still had some grumbles from his back so an easier outing with only a few rolling starts to keep the pace up. Grey mist burning off as the outing progressed. #rowing #rowersofmastodon #garmin #beatyesterday

Monday #sculling on the Wear. Bright cool morning for a steady session with a few practice builds and rolling starts. A half day at work and sunshine, I've an interview this afternoon or might have headed to the beach. Another half day tomorrow for the boys 21st and a full day off Wednesday all in the week our owner is onsite. I couldn't have timed it better reducing the opportunities for me to ask him how the whole Trump things going. #rowing #rowersofmastodon

GPS fail but a beautiful Tempo run around Durham, perfect conditions the only nuisance being a hole in my toe (thanks Ivor) but it only hurts on the hills. Despite what the map shows I did not teleport to Beamish.vl Another short working day as I'm picking my son up, back from Uni a couple of days early for his birthday. #running #runnersofmastodon #garmin #beatyesterday

Wednesday night with coxhoe on the run. Quite a speedy one, possibly down to warmer air and a bright night. A regular route around some mad landmarks avoiding the loop up to quarrington hill and cold knuckle edge.

Easing back into training as one crew member is suffering from the lurgy. Good Friday so a 7:30 start rather than the normal 6:30. Cool but it stayed dry. No otter but the swans have relocated again back to their original location at Elvet making for some light drama going through the bridge. #rowing #rowersofmastodon

Sunday long run with Coxhoe on the run, not pacey but a good crowd with a few new faces. Mostly bright sunshine although the end of storm Dave left some bitter winds and even a hail shower thankfully at the farm behind old Warrington where we could shelter in a tin shed for the worst of it. I am full of the cold and hesitated this morning but glad I got out. Now for some Carrot cake and news avoidance. #running #runnersofmastodon

Monday late #sculling session on the Wear out in Bluewater 4x. Warm up, drills then a regatta course piece, easy down to the pool then a sprint back up to Kingsgate. Some good progress in our starts, less force, better technique and our rate is getting there. Cold air but a glorious morning, even the bonus of arriving back at the club just in time for the daytime rowers so we didn't need to take the boat off the water. #rowing #rowersofmastodon

Slow start this morning but beautiful conditions for an outing. Due to the later than planned start we made it a trip and a half rather than two. Warm up, two regatta pieces, counts to Kingsgate then counting strokes before a piece on the regatta course. Decent but we are missing power in the higher rates, room for work. #rowing #rowersofmastodon

Durham Parkrun this morning as we are still a man down and it was a bit windy for singling. An additional 9km for both slices of my parkrun sandwich. Official time 22:13 which is still well behind my PB but given the wind and no focus on 5km I was happy with it. Sunshine by the time I made it home. If it stays dry I've an appointment with brambles at the bottom of the garden. #running #runnersofmastodon

Another Friday #sculling on the Wear. Sadly more lurgy in the quad so dropped into a single. Warmer but pretty wet, a better way to spend the morning than work. The swans seem to have moved downstream and have a new nest site. It's still less than a meter above the current water level though. Off to the doctor to get my annual inspection then work where our owner is onsite. Must remember to keep my tongue firmly between my teeth. #rowing #rowersofmastodon
