I'm only partially ashamed to say: I saw Devil Wears Prada 2. It's actually quite good. I enjoyed it more than the first one. This is the last we shall speak on this matter.

Watching some influencer videos about perfect spaghetti, I ordered some 12 inch spaghetti tongs off Amazon, coz that's apparently what all the cool kids use to get the perfect twirl on their plating. Made spag last night, twirled the tongs like buggery, spag still fell in a messy heap. Guess that's something else to add to the second kitchen drawer

Who the FUCK creates a 300,000 line CSV file, where cells on a row contain multi-line data, each line of which in one cell must match the same respective line of the cell next to it?

Say hello to Wolli, our new wollemi pine. If you don't know their story, they were thought to be long extinct - fossils of them showing up in 70 million year old rock and never seen in real life. Then in 1994, a lone bush walker discovered a cluster of less than 150 of them hidden down a highly inaccessible valley in the Wollemi National Park in NSW Australia. They're so rare, the location of the valley is kept secret, only known to a few park rangers and scientists. They wer...

So, our experience with the #southaustralia public health system this past fortnight has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster at all levels. Zero out of ten. God help anyone who suddenly needs medical attention there. But hey, you've got your Gather Round, right? Bread and circuses.

Just went to the Best of British show at the #Melbourne International Comedy Festival #micf and heard the most offensive thing I've heard in years - I just couldn't stop laughing even on the way home. Problem is I didn't get the name of the guy who did the bit. He looks a bit like a Michael Sheen who's given up on life, with a wit like David Mitchell. The other acts were great too but that one will stick with me. Must find him!

Day 6 of the antibiotics is starting to take effect now. Dealing with a grumpy client still refusing to take my meeting invite decline at face value (They gave me 15 days notice, I gave them 14 that I couldn't make it at the specific time they requested, and suggested literally *any* other time). Some people refuse to accept that every now and then, others have priorities besides them.

Finally - I woke up this morning feeling... not shit. Woohoo!! It seems the pills and potions have finally done their job. The antibiotics have done a bit of a number on my digestive system, but only 3 more days of them to go before that hopefully sure itself out I'll give it one more day to be sure I'm not on a false high, then start some light exercise again before building back up to weights, running and swimming, which it feels like forever since I've done. I&#...

My Pixel 7 has been stuck on 4G on Belong for a few months. Not sure what happened to make that occur, but I thought I'd try to fix it. After screwing with settings, *#*#4636#*#* debug menus etc etc, I though "I know, I'll trash my SIM and switch over to an eSIM!" Well, the transfer went well and the eSIM came up. Except still 4G. Shit. I figured bugger it, I'll clear the eSIM out, reset all my carrier setting data then get a new one, just in case th...

Anyone from #adelaide care to explain this at the airport? I'm going to gate 26. Which is next to gate 50. Because gates 27 to 49 do not exist. Is this some sort of airport fake big dick energy thing?

Back in Melbourne after an out and out cunt of a week in Adelaide. And of course my body has finally collapsed. Dr Google says it's probably RSV, but I might book in a slot with my real doctor tomorrow. Probably back to Adelaide again on Friday but in the meantime I have a few more days with $IdiotCustomer to get through

About to hop on a plane at very short notice for a family emergency. Completely forgot I had my umbrella made of very sharp pointy metal in my carry on (it's my work bag). Luckily the bag in front of mine at security got pinged for additional scanning, and they let mine through as they can't do two at once I guess. Good for me - I picked up that brolly in Japan and quite like it

In Adelaide at the RAH for my 99yo grandmother who had a fall and broke her hip this week. A bit of a weird, twilight zone situation. She seems determined that this is game over, to the point of constantly ripping out her tubes and subcuts, and not eating. We're all pretty unanimous that we're in a DNR situation and the gallows humour is flowing thick and fast

It's been a week. My grandmother passed on Monday. She was determined to go before 100, and did everything in her remaining power to do so. Fair Play to her - it wasn't quite on the terms we all (including her) hoped for but it was reasonably quick and we got to be there with her while she was still awake. The past couple of days have had us in full productivity mode - packing up her house, paperwork, organising memorial service etc. My sister and I both have the full week off...

A beautiful day out in the bay this morning. It took a while to pick up any decent wind, but the view of the Melbourne skyline in the sun with the 33 footers cruising around us was picturesque. Also, the new Spirit of Tassie is currently moored at Williamstown while it awaits a port to be built. Sailing around the insane size of the thing, it's all the more astounding that nobody actually thought to build the port before taking delivery of her.
