The march of progress... I&#39;ve taken delivery of a #Cisco Nexus N5K-C5624Q switch for my home lab. It has twelve 40 Gbps QSFP ports. My first exposure to ethernet was 10Base2 and 10Base5 in all its CSMA/CD glory. This was in the early 1990s. Cheapernet/Yellow String, T-pieces, terminators, 3C503 &amp; NE2000 cards... I thought there&#39;d never be a need to go beyond 10 Mbps. How times change.

Frustrating problem solved. Recently received #Cisco Nexus N5K-C5624Q switch was dead-on-arrival, &quot;DIMMs are not present in the system&quot; and &quot;ERROR: MRC failed&quot;. Very little online info as these aren&#39;t meant to be user-serviceable. Good suggestion from seller, hadn&#39;t considered this. Possibly dead CMOS battery. I haven&#39;t been near GNS3 since my #CCNA a few years ago, so I decided to refresh my memory. I&#39;d forgotten how much fun it can be, even over working through its quirks and limitations. That&#39;s another #Cisco router expanded &amp; chonked out. This second hand 2921 came with a uck9 (voice) license. It now has the equivalent of a full 1Gbps 48 port PoE-capable 3560 layer 3 switch (making the parent device a swouter), quad FXO and FXS voice modules, a quad T1/E1 module, a dual smart serial module, a whole heap of DSP, 2.5GB RAM, dual Compact Flash cards and a partridge in a pear tree. If I decide to refresh my #CCNA then this sort of setup helps.

The latest desperate and sad attempt by the UK monarchy to appear fashionable and relevant. Plonk them in the TARDIS. Promising news on BBC site about a breakthrough ovarian #cancer treatment becoming available on our health service. Monoclonal Antibody (MAB) regimens aren&#39;t a new phenomenon overall. I&#39;m guessing their already promising trajectory is advancing in efficacy &amp; reducing collateral damage to non-cancerous cells. I&#39;ve *finally* taken the plunge and started kitting out some of my #RaspberryPi boards with proper storage : my five Pi 5s now each have 250GB NVMe. Three of my Pi 4s now have m.2 SATAs - one at 500GB and two at 250GB. I&#39;ll be completing a fourth 500GB Pi 4 as soon as the drive arrives. I&#39;ve long wanted to upgrade some of my Pies to better storage. The difference is like night and day. All my other Pies are going to feel syrupy from now on, due to the clear limitations...
