Frustrating problem solved. Recently received #Cisco Nexus N5K-C5624Q switch was dead-on-arrival, "DIMMs are not present in the system" and "ERROR: MRC failed". Very little online info as these aren't meant to be user-serviceable. Good suggestion from seller, hadn't considered this. Possibly dead CMOS battery. I've swapped the coin cell & reseated the 8GB DIMM. It now boots normally. Still a mystery if it was the battery, DIMM connection or maybe both. Annoying but glad it's solved.
