  Ugh, stuck at work as the nausea phase of getting stung by a nest of wasps I accidentally stirred up doing yardwork is hitting. ( I looked it up and this is apparently a common thing that doesn't necessarily mean a severe reaction but definitely sucks).

The way I was raised, family was synonymous with needing to hide major parts of yourself and basically putting on the same kind of falsely perfect "realtor beige" persona expected for a job interview. Someone later described me as "getting a 404 error" every time I hear...

  So, apparently some fucker committed an anti-Islamic hate crime at the mall I work at (thankfully while I was not there, but *yikes*!😬). I heard the victim is in the hospital in critical condition. 😞 On the plus side, apparently a whole bunch of bystanders jumped the asshole and kicked him in the head, so he's hospitalized, too, which makes me feel a teeny bit proud of my neighbors.

  Apparently my brain recognizes movement style faster than other visual cues. Don't know if that's usual or not, but I work in a place that basically rents mobility scooters in fursuits as an amusement ride. Sitting here overheated and not feeling my best at work, and a guy passed by with a regular mobility scooter.   Am I the only person who can't bring myself to use a neti pot? Both the urgent care and telehealth docs advised me to use one as if it was no big deal, but the idea of pouring water into a breathing passage ( which is already in burning pain) just hits with the same kind of visceral fear as trying to put my hand in a fire---I can't believe it wouldn't cause terrible pain and gagging and I don't know how to force myself to do it. #sinusitis #homeremedies #help

Did that once when a broken hot water pipe in an old house steam-warped the floorboards in a section of livingroom and I couldn't afford any other fix. Took a couple of months with four or five cases of 12x12 tile sitting atop the warped area, but it did flatten out.

It's an idea I find intriguing ( I find retro-tech, and possible alternatives to corporate-controlled internet, fascinating) but don't seem to have any transferable skill sets or be able to pick this one up from anything I find doing websearches. Where would you recommend I go for the "Explain it to a Martian 5-year-old" beginner's guide?

  #ScribesAndMakers May 23: If you were going to tell a story about a #cryptid, which would you choose? One of my many unfinished projects has a cryptid of sorts as a main character---he's both a lycanthrope and an escaped alien-hybrid lab creation, whose lycanthrope form is basically the full alien, who are based on sapient, horse-sized squirrels from a planet where the Giant Sequoias would be small-average trees. I'm better at making worlds and species than plotlines, though....

  Today sucks. Most of my big plans for my day off got wiped due to migraine, then as I was finally starting to feel a little better I decided to pull out a board and start on a woodworking project (trying to make some shelves to deal with my clutter a bit). Lifted it up to hear the sound of shattering glass and get showered in shrapnel (thankfully, and amazingly, not actually injured!) from what had been my entryway light fixture. 🤦🏼

  So my work has a TV screen and the boss insists we keep it running with nature videos (sound off, thankfully). Today it was showing tree kangaroos (not native to this continent, to be sure), and some kids walked in and immediately and loudly dismissed it as "AI". This definitely brought home how much harm AI is doing in undermining everyone's sense of reality, that even children refuse to believe in the existence of an animal they haven't held in person. It will allow you to complete certain types of projects very quickly with some sacrifice of quality, and if you aren't careful you'll have absolute destruction.
