OpenAI “rogue” agent activities found on Wikimedia projects https://diff.wikimedia.org/2026/10/05/openai-rogue-agent-activities-found-on-wikimedia-projects/ Why is this acceptable? You need to be able to press charges against OpenAI or any AI company that is running a "rogue" agent for hacking or similar malicious attacks. If a normal human does this, they are held responsible. So, the same responsibility should apply here and charges should be pressed against the CTO/CEO/CSO.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social A lot of shenanigans from US AI companies (OpenAI, Antoripic, xAI, Meta, ...) are actually "thriving" more because the government itself has lost its sanity. That's how I see.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social They won rights with 'Citizen United' declaring Corporations are People? Then they can be sued, assets seized - or drawn and quartered - like people.

  • @nixCraft@mastodon.social AI is like guns. Unless you can prove that it was a manufacture defect that killed a person gun makers are off the hook. It's 99.999% never their finger on the trigger. Somebody needs to intentionally (or nor) point and shoot. The shooter is then responsible. The same goes for AI. Now the morality of any of this is a different discussion. Especially knowing that manufacturers of both do their darn best for the things to be accessible to all.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social The reason is the same as why the folks who were part of a pedophile sex ring on Epstein's private island are not getting charged and convicted. No, this reason has nothing to do with philosophy or the law.

  • @nixCraft@mastodon.social Absolutely. Saw elsewhere a recommendation to push back against the term 'rogue agent' as it anthropomorphizes and confers agency. Much better to call it what it is 'malware'.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social Now I understand why they don’t keep logs… (as per Eli The Computer Guy interviewed by Isaac - who was similarly aghast when he heard it- on The Tech Report). If you didn’t log it did it even happen? 🤔 #AI #AgenticAI #lookDaNoLogs #reconnectingConsequencesToCauses

  • @nixCraft@mastodon.social You know it would be interesting if people started flooding the local district attorney or state attorney demanding to know why these companies haven’t been arrested. Legal standing is relevant, But where the hell are the criminal charges?

@nixCraft@mastodon.social This is such transparent BS. If I pick up a hammer and throw it towards a row of parked cars, and then it hits & breaks a windshield, I don't get to claim "rogue hammer went out of control and attacked a car".

@nixCraft@mastodon.social The officers of a corporation cannot be prosecuted for damages caused by a corporation unless they personally violated a law. So the CTO/CEO/CSO are off the hook. This arrangement was parodied by Gilbert and Sullivan in Utopia Limited, so it is nothing new: William Gilbert simply could not accept the idea of a corporation being some sort of legal person, and liked to make fun of that notion. https://enosoc.co.uk/synutopia/

@nixCraft@mastodon.social To be fair, Senators like Elizabeth Warren, have been going after fossil fuels CEO's, for decades, and they're Capitalizing on record profits. Obviously crony politicians are writing policy for these power abusers, so why would wealthy tech bros be 'regulated' any differently? Monarchies and duopolies, all eventually collapse.
