Waiting days for a bank transfer is a thing of the past. With the Instant Payments Regulation now in force, all banks in the EU must process Euro transfers within 10 seconds, at no extra cost, 24/7. Banks based in non-euro countries have until 2027 to comply. We have also mandated a ‘Verification of Payee’ system to help stop fraudsters from getting your money. Your bank transfers, now instant. Here's how we’re transforming the EU payment market ➡️ https://link.europa.eu/jkGyTh

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu Maybe also pass legislation to stop them using external, predominately American, payment providers in the background? The growing dominance of services like Google/Apple Pay and MasterCard/VISA, as opposed to European services held to European standards should be a cause for concern.

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu Congrats for the transfer speeds. Already seen a handful of Americans say that they moved over to using Euro to send each other money instead of crypto coins or cash app. Wasn't expecting that but still pleasant to see. (However the 10 seconds thing doesn't always work, sometimes it's more like 5-10 minutes though. Hope that improves now) [Not so much a fan of the "Verification of Payee", in practice it is more of an annoyance than an actual help...]

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu So banks based in non-Euro countries can take six months to action a transfer? Seems excessive.

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu Can confirm that Instant SEPA transfers work beautifully. I use local Bizum for small amounts, and instant transfers for larger ones. Making it work throughout the EU and its national banking systems is a major achievement. Congrats!

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu Honestly big respect, I remember when if you did this on a Friday evening it would take until Monday for the money to arrive on the other persons bank account, even within the same country. Big improvement

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu what about making banks allow their costumers to not use an app that is only available on Android/ios? Those apps are not posible to use unless you give all your data to various american corporations. Interoperabilty in 2026 is 0

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu "Your bank transfers, now instant." Unless you happen to live in Gaza, where Reuters, the World Bank and the UN have documented a financial system crippled by destroyed infrastructure, severe cash shortages and barriers to accessing funds. Ten seconds is a luxury when the problem is whether you can access your own money. And the EU, complicit as ever, is still rewarding the genocidaires who are doing this. End the EU-Israel Association Agreement.
