@pheonix@hachyderm.io what do you mean with "before 2023"? We all know that doesn't exist ๐

@pheonix@hachyderm.io I'd love to let him know I've *never* used any of those, and I get around perfectly fine, thank you ever so much :P

@pheonix@hachyderm.io Funny you should say that. When I see photos of, say, New York in the 1950s, I see an entire civilisation flourishing, and not a bloody computer in sight.

@pheonix@hachyderm.io I personally never ever use any of that shit and have no need to. My IT/engineering consultancy keep banging on about it - and I was heartened this week when a request came down from management for people to come forward with examples of how they're using in our engineering team... complete silence on the chat except for one guy who said he'd used machine learning in university (before joining our company) to create an engineering substitute model (i.e. an actual application, not some chatbot crap). From the other twenty team members...? Nada. Ha ha ha - screw you upper management!

@pheonix@hachyderm.io I'm not on Threads, so I can't tell Kavish this, but the most common request I get from home tech support clients is to uninstalled, disable, or block AI on their computers and the websites they use. People pay me to help them not have AI.

Replace AI with crack in this example, and the desperation of the dude becomes crystal-clear.

@pheonix@hachyderm.io It is easy to avoid the habit if you never started. Just say No to drugs (AI).

@pheonix@hachyderm.io as a web developer, I'd actually be just fine. I still know how to Google a thing.

@pheonix@hachyderm.io I just want to see the answers. Imagine not having the imagination or the memory to ask that question?

@pheonix@hachyderm.io not only could i easily do every day with zero AI tools like these, i could do without *anyone* using these tools.

@pheonix@hachyderm.io How likely is it that that poster is AI? No wonder the bizarre unfounded fears of the human apocalypse before 2023 before AI led us to put superglue on pepperoni slices to keep them on pizza.

@pheonix@hachyderm.io ๐๐ฏ๐ I happily get through every day without #AI bullshit ๐. It's a fucking cult.

@pheonix@hachyderm.io If AI disappeared tomorrow, nothing in my life would change, except perhaps a lightening of my shoulders, a lifting of my mood, and the thought that perhaps there might be hope for the world after all.

@pheonix@hachyderm.io These people are not worthy of any response. Waste of valuable energy.

@pheonix@hachyderm.io If you can't do your job without AI, how the fuck did you get the job?

@pheonix@hachyderm.io it would save me a lot of time and emails. Explaining to people that I will not support their grant applications because of all the errors in the research is painful. I know it's AI, but I feel happier asking people to correct their mistakes. Either they fess up or realise AI does not work for many things. Frustratingly I need them to get grants so I can invoice them later however there are certain things I place ahead of money. Makes me lucky I know. More frustratingly, as it turns out, applications get submitted anyway and often get the grants. This is a whole different problem though and definitely is not new.

@pheonix@hachyderm.io Would love a world where ai could be avoided. It makes my workday bitter every day...

@pheonix@hachyderm.io holy crap are there really people that reliant on AI? I have never used it to write or do my job. Am I an oddity?
