If there's something you need, and you can't find it at a local store, which is the least bad option? Also stg moralizing will get you blocked, i already know they're bad

@NickGates@friendsofdesoto.social I picked the secret fourth option because things I order online I could think of off the top of my head I get from a variety of websites depending on what they are. Books, I often get from Bookshop or look on Biblio to find a small bookseller that has something. Home goods really vary; I look for a good source based on what the particulars are.

@NickGates@friendsofdesoto.social Amazon is obviously the worst option. They are cartoonishly evil. Target is in timeout until they do better. Wal-Mart is consistently bad but is much quieter about it. I feel least guilty shopping at Wal-Mart, but its just as shitty as the others.

@NickGates@friendsofdesoto.social I said "Secret fourth option" meaning: whichever one you can get it from with the least cost to you and/or has it in stock. The moralizing of consumption, especially necessary consumption, comes from a place of privilege anywhere that assumes you have the time and financial wherewithal to moralize your spending. That's not the case for everyone. It's not even the case for most people. Buy what you need where you can get it. If that's local, that's awesome. If it's not, eh?
