@emilymbender@dair-community.social As an ACM member, I added my feedback. It is sad to say that I don't believe them, I do think leadership has decided. I still added my voice against it, so they know that they are not in the consensus

@emilymbender@dair-community.social So why & what are the ACM asking their “community of authors & contributors” about using their content to “imprint” LLMs? A. To be included as beneficiaries in any licensing deal? B. To ask consent per author or per paper for inclusion? C. Under no circumstances include an author’s work including posthumously? D. What? ACM have enough smart, intelligent members - why not setup their own LLM with their own content à la non-frontier “Kimi”? Learned-helplessness is not “appealing”.

@emilymbender@dair-community.social i left ACM 20 years ago (after 25 years of membership … yes, i am that old) over their publication policies. i feel like maybe i should rejoin so that i can resign again!
