“Courage is knowing it might hurt & doing it anyway. Stupidity is the same & that’s why is hard.” -https://mas.to/@skeletor/116818454299783370 Revised: Courage is knowing it might hurt (from prior experience/knowledge) & doing it anyway. Stupidity is “believing it hurts other people but NOT them” & doing it anyway. Life is hard for everyone, especially those that don’t accept that “earth physics” applies to them and flabbergasted by “earth physics” surprises.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@randahl/117012769967516013 Interesting rejection stance. “The moment external investors acquire ownership interests in FIFA competitions, football changes forever. Commercial return becomes a _permanent obligation_. Investor expectations become a daily pressure. From that moment onwards, -every decision on the international calendar -every decision on competition formats and -every decision shaping the future of football is no longer driven by what best serves th...

The maths is not “mathing”-https://mastodon.social/@sundogplanets/117009791441487700 “Prof. Sam Lawler’s (@sundogplanets) estimate from looking at this ridiculous sketch is 8x60x10m solar panels... that's a reflecting area of 4800 m^2. The International Space Station (ISS), the biggest thing in orbit, has a solar panel area of about 3400 m^2.” BTW ISS was not constructed and then launched into orbit. But these people are going to reinvent earth physics 🤷🏾‍♀️.

Emerge(definition) become apparent or prominent (observer bias) It was always present and has not changed state, just not previously significant to the observer. What’s emerging is the observer’s mental model perception of their containing environment, not the state of the environment itself. Transient, ephemeral objects are a different “story”.

People talk about “data hygiene (DH)” but not unethical choices that led the so called “DH” symptom in the first place. Hovering up all available Internet data unethically without consent or curation, you will fundamentally have a “data hygiene” issue guaranteed! All the remediation gate/guardrails/etc. are only tackled “after the horse has bolted” - too late as an externality when it is a fundamental part of the model production process. - https://infosec.exchange/@noplasticshower/1165394176030...

Another reason (1,000,007) not to allow rent-seeking middlemen into your process. I’ve never liked that Visual Studio code “conveniently” runs a console on your behalf but does not give you full control of it. No thanks, I’ll use my own console for my code commits! - https://mastodon.social/@danluu/116509588615166940
