You know something? The reason so many developers have gotten taken completely in by LLMs is actually the same reason so many CEOs have: LLMs flatter the ever-loving shit out of you, and a lot of software engineers have egos the size of a planet. That's it. The robotic yes man is a highly addictive drug to people who are wanting to be told they're smart and clever and right about everything.

@pikhq@social.treehouse.systems it's odd, but this post made me wonder, "are all the boosters male?" I'm sure there's some booster out there that's a woman. Right? Statistically speaking. I haven't met her, or seen her, or heard about her, and to be honest, I'm as disinterested in meeting her as I am any other booster, but..

All the senior devs I know that use LLMs are rather of the exact opposite opinion - they're trying hard to prompt the models to not be so agreeable. Torvalds: 'My own personal annoyance was how eager to please AI models tend to be at least by default. @pikhq@social.treehouse.systems This explains why I can't stand LLMs. No matter any success I might have from my code projects, nor who tells me it's good work, I Know it's not as good as it ought to be. No mechanized sycophantic abomination will ever convince me otherwise. I'm immune.

@pikhq@social.treehouse.systems if that’s who they’re hiring as developers, no wonder corporate “software engineering” makes no sense to me. (Unfortunately, I don’t see a way to make enough money by programming things that do make sense)
