Computers were good enough to do everything we need them to do ten years ago. Everything since then is bullshit. If you can't do your job on a computer from 2016 you're just bad at your job. That's a fact, I don't make the rules. There are enough computer games to play now too. Your life isn't long enough to play all the ones we have, it's time to stop making more. Just play them. Stop making more computer. Immediately.

@mike@social.chinwag.org the problem, if I may, is that modern software tools are full of bloat and the features needed for my job mean that it just wouldn’t run on a ten year old computer. I do agree though, the software/tools need to be improved and not just say “oh this release now needs 32gb of ram”

@mike@social.chinwag.org My 2013 iMac running Linux Mint with its i5-2500 CPU and 16Gb of RAM is still perfectly adequate for the rather demanding requirements of web development. To me, the only tangible benefit of modern computers is improved power efficiency. And the newest game I play regularly is Mario Kart Wii.
