Born 99 years ago on February 10 in Laurel Mississippi, Leontyne Price is one of the greatest opera singers who ever lived…and she’s still with us!

@Deglassco I learned about Leontyne Price in sixth grade from Mrs. Addams, the first Black teacher I ever had. She was also one of the most influential teachers I ever had and I got to tell her before she passed away.

@Deglassco Laurel is just a skip away from where I'm currently living. I wonder if they celebrate her. I hope so. I may go there soon & I'll look for markers recognizing her. What a voice!
