@jiub@not.an.evilcyberhacker.net After some cursory searching, I wasn't able to see if nano has had anything to say on the subject of ai. It's also a GNU project though, so I hope she follows the example of her sister.

@jiub@not.an.evilcyberhacker.net As a vim user, I want to point out a small resistance cell still active: https://sr.ht/~sircmpwn/vim-classic/ So, there may be more battles, yet. But, I agree the war has been won.

@jiub@not.an.evilcyberhacker.net Yeahhhhh, no. Those are vim plugins for LLMs and I hate to break it to ya' but emacs has the same slop https://github.com/rksm/org-ai Nano doesn't have that problem (yet).

@jiub@not.an.evilcyberhacker.net it's such an unexpected turn of events given how much emacs users love to write packages to integrate every LLMs in every parts of Emacs and only talk about AI. But I'm glad they're banned from the core project
-
@jiub@not.an.evilcyberhacker.net 2026-06-10 15:22

@rogerparkinson@mastodon.nz 2026-06-13 22:37
@jiub@not.an.evilcyberhacker.net I forget who first said it but often the first (decent) editor you encounter will always be your favorite. For me it was editch running on pdp11s back in the mid 70s, but maybe that doesn't count as 'decent', it was designed to work on lineflow terminals after all. So the next one I met was vi, and I still use that. Never bothered with vim or emacs.
