#Monsterdon morning-after reflection: I appreciate how Sam Neill's character in In the Mouth of Madness (1994) is an insurance investigator instead of just being a cop like a billion other movies. The suspension of disbelief that would otherwise be required to buy that a cop is actually a hard-working skeptic mystery-solver can be fruitfully put towards, like, a horror novelist having the power to rewrite reality. Also, as any Frictional Games fan can attest, horror is much more fun when th...

Holyday is talking, but for the past week I have been reviewing every single Council vote over the last four years, and I am telling you I have had it up to fucking HERE with this fucking waste of atoms, he doesn't deserve an iota more of anyone's fucking attention, this fucking ghoul does nothing but eat up Council time and resources to concern-troll. I know it sounds like I might be just saying this because I am mentally ill and distraught, but I assure you this is how I feel about Ho...

I was dimly aware there was an Odyssey movie and was mildly interested in a "maybe I'll see it in the second-run theatre" kind of way until I realized it was Christopher Nolan. Instant turnoff Like I don't hate his movies or anything, I've liked the few I've seen, it's just that they're very Serious and not as smart as some people seem to think, and I am absolutely disinterested in his take on the Odyssey. There are even other Directors Dudes Like who I think w...

Not entirely unserious speculation: the eventual outcome of Doug Ford's tenure will be essentially scrapping the City of Toronto Act and turning the area into something more like the District of Columbia, administered directly by the Province in all respects. It will have some dreadful name like the Provincial Capital Administrative Region. #TOpoli #ONpoli

everyone demanding an elaborate taxonomy of what exactly constitutes "mansplaining" and what differentiates "mansplaining" from regular "explaining" should probably re-read (you did already read the original, right?) Rebecca Solnit's original essay, "Men Explain Things to Me"

SAVOIR FAIRE - *ZOOT*! *ZAP*! *POW*! *CRINKLE*! It's like magic, you feel yourself disappear, your atoms fading out of existence… SAVOIR FAIRE - *BAM*!
