@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us I think any new labour leader needs to be someone that is likely from the North. They need to be a voice the contrasts recent leaders. It is shallow but a regional accent will probably help them sound a bit more relatable to the voters that have lost in the last year.

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us England is where Scotland was in 2014, realising that the Con/Lab thing no longer works. Sadly, they seem to be turning toward Reform, as there's no "Bit Leftish English Independence Party" a la PC, SNP etc. Greens...maybe? But don't have that independence issue.

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us Not sure why there’s such an obsession over Burnham, tbh. It’s almost as bad as the one over Corbyn. And Burnham isn’t an MP, so it seems to me to be a deflection, a waste of time and energy, which undoubtedly suits Starmer & Streeting. Everyone needs to look at who is available & likely: Rayner, Milliband, and that whole noxious Front Bench. There must be outlier MPs within govt worth a better look. Wish Clive Lewis would be a contender, but he doesn’t seem interested.

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us I read earlier on that lots of Labour's blunders can be attributed to the parsimonious hand of the treasury - refusal to lift 2 child benefit cap, depriving us pensioners of our winter fuel allowance, increase in NICs, no increase in tax-free allowance, etc., yet Reeves' responsibility seems not to have been noticed.

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us to be honest, I don't think it matters who wins. Public opinion will absolutely tank within the first year when their lives don't magically improve and we'll be doing this again. That people think Farage will somehow be immune to this amuses me. Trump isn't, he's on his arse. How many candidates do Reform have for a leadership contest? They can barely form a cabinet. Labour looking exactly like the last Tory governments already: too obsessed with perception & getting nothing done.
