First it was my neighbours’ airconditioner showing up in my WiFi lists, now it’s their “55-inch Samsung The Frame QLED 4K TV” showing up in my Bluetooth. No wonder would-be burglars drive around with Bluetooth scanners looking for things to steal.

@gregeganSF@mathstodon.xyz I enjoy connecting to neighbors speakers and blasting really strange music.

@gregeganSF@mathstodon.xyz All sorts of weird stuff shows up in my #HomeAssistant saying "click here to take control of this device". So far I think it's all been widgets belonging to visitors to the house rather than neighbours.

@gregeganSF@mathstodon.xyz wait... Are you my neighbor? (I've tried to get my AC to stop doing that 3x but it keeps doing it again after it's been powered off and on again)

  • @gregeganSF@mathstodon.xyz For security reasons always make sure to change bluetooth device names to "gently used smart cock ring".

@gregeganSF@mathstodon.xyz One can easily find manufacturers’ default passwords for online devices. This means all kinds of monkey business is possible. I occasionally do a public service by changing the SSID of unprotected WiFi to “Change my password”. I’m still trying to understand why a refrigerator needs a web server and powerful WiFi. My neighbor had no idea that his fridge was swamping my WiFi channels. So I disabled his fridge’s WiFi.
