I mean, notice that none of the old guard is freaking out right now, we’re just putting on proverbial crime scene gear and staring like Dexter.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange wow, I guess giving the talk is (partly) what pays their bills, but it would be enlightening to see a high level summary of it.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange Explains how wonky the web is this morning. Thanks for being the person you are, Lesley.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange oh wow that sounds fascinating. Visa too I'd imagine. Id guess from your text there isn't a recording anywhere but I'd love to see it if there is.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange At some point, the people holding purse-strings for large non-US companies are going to realize they may want to optimize around actual resilience rather than quarterly-return scope money, but until then, everyone will be so incredibly hosed if things go off the air.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange Ooh, I'd love to hear that talk sometime. If they are ever interested in giving it at a Swedish BSides, please send them my contacts. But I guess it probably is a little bit too public of an event. From the top of my head, email is also going to be a struggle, since almost all big organizations here (including government agencies) have decided to hand that over to microsoft.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange It's even more amazing how resilient they are when our political system has you-know-who in the pilot seat and his multi-billionaire friends are actively trying to export his cult to our allies. Did Asimov predict this? How far in the future from his time?

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange I prefer to stay anonymous, too, Lesley, but I couldn't give a talk like your friend does.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange I would go to this talk. Don't suppose it's online anywhere?

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange Sometimes I think all this shit needs to burn down. That is what's necessary to build a new, more resilient internet. Without that incident, nothing will change. Yeah, people yell now for european cloud solutions and something like an european LetsEncrypt. In germany we try to set up a replacement for paypal which currently fails because why bother, you could also just use paypal, right? This entire shit needs to burn down, or nothing changes.
