I wanted to wait a little bit to see if #parkrun came out with a statement themselves, but as there hasn't been anything yet I've used the tool at https://protectparkrun.uk/ to write to my MP. I moved some of the text around and added in my own experience at parkrun (because I am not above pointing out that I've completed over 490 events and volunteered over 175 times, whereas these schmucks have done nada). It takes a couple of minutes. #ProtectParkrun #sport4all #TransRightsAreHumanRights

It's also worth noting that it was (likely) the targeted campaigns of hate against trans participants that tipped the organisation over the edge in finally getting rid of some of the performance metrics from the front-facing parts of the website (it's still on the app, which is now official). As they pivoted to inclusion and participation it made less sense to publish leaderboards based on pure time, but the hate spewing from the swimmer and the marathon runner can't have helped.

I got a response from my MP as follows: "Thanks for your email. It is disappointing to hear that UK-based campaigners have joined forces with right-wing Christian Group ADF International, to threaten Parkrun and other sporting organisations with legal action. This is truly an American culture-war import we can do without.

@fak@toot.community I have, separately, written to my MP. I suggested the Americans involved would better not be admitted to this country, and that he might pop along to our local #parkrun (Exeter #Riverside ) I photographed a lot of our early ones. #evangelists #troublemakers #ExeterRiverside
