@tilton@fursuits.online Every halfway decent AI-boosting blog post I've read has had a throwaway handwave like "I know people have ethical concerns about AI, but setting those aside for a moment, …" And I'm just like… we have words for setting aside ethics… and they're not kind, for good reason.

@tilton@fursuits.online I genuinely had some European tech head argue a couple of years ago that I was “too negative” about gen AI (1) and that he found it useful (2). (1) after I mentioned that my mother, brother, sister-in-law, several relatives, and a grand total of two hundred people were laid off from a single company at once (over 90% of its workforce) because the boss decided that AI could do their job now. (2) quote, “it helps my kids do their homework”.

@tilton@fursuits.online I encountered a guy using chatgpt as an emote search tool this morning on a trending post. Instead of pressing Win+., typing "smile", & clicking the right smiley face, they ask chatgpt or claude or whatever to find the emote for them. I don't understand. People use this garbage just to use it, even in cases where it requires more effort, time, & money.

@tilton@fursuits.online not to mention AI psychosis, I actually know a few people who legit fell prey into believing the word generators speak to them and reveal hidden truths it's a universal delusion enabler, like it's actually scary how much potential it carries to unearth mental illness in people
