@KatyElphinstone@mas.to I didn't know about ADHD and autistic people being sensitive to injustice. I've often wondered if I might be on the spectrum. I've never studied the "disorder" closely, but what little I know about it has had me wondering for some time now. This bit about hypersensitivity to injustice is really an eye opener however. @KatyElphinstone@mas.to There was a wonderful study on children and their innate sense of justice. I tend to think of us folks on a spectrum as just not having had so much of our natural tendency beaten out of us. Humans have to learn to be unjust. @KatyElphinstone@mas.to Spot on. The so-termed 'neurotypical' is often shallow on effects such as justice. The negatively labelled 'neurodivergent' have a deep sense of justice. Why? Because life is amplified with AuDHD - you get overwhelmed with overload so want things to be ordered and 'correct' to reduce that. From that comes strong sense of justice I feel.

@KatyElphinstone@mas.to This is one of the most fascinating aspects of autism to me. I'd love to understand the neurology and socialization behind that need for justice and fairness. Maybe that's just the reasonable way to see things, but NTs are so obsessed with social status that they feel justice is secondary to getting along with people who can affect your social standing. I always think of that psych study that said autistic people were deficient because we were TOO ethical, because we wouldn't cheat even if it would benefit us and we knew we would get away with it. They said that means we aren't capable of acting immorally to benefit ourselves, and because that's not how NTs act it's an impairment, like that's an actual problem you should fix. One thing it took me getting used to about the autistic community was how commonly folks think that NT society is fundamentally dishonest and everyone is lying all the time, mostly for the sake of their social status, but also because it's assumed everyone else is lying about everything too. From job interviews where everyone is expected to lie so everything you say is assumed to be a lie, to empty "let's grab coffee soon" promises that never materialize, NT society is all about pretense and faking it until making it. Everything is about keeping up appearances, and that's not compatible with justice or even fairness.

@KatyElphinstone@mas.to There's a tendency for many of us autistics to give up on evil, because we're no good at being bad. Rather than get ahead in business or politics, we embarrass ourselves if we try. However if we do choose evil alignment, we're shameless and blatant about it. Objectivism, Satanism, overt racism and of course fascism.
