But the revelation for me was the Valium. I. LOVE. Valium. I love Valium *so* much that I have never had it again. It was like Mother's selfless love in a pill. It was exactly like having drunk alcohol, without the feeling that I've been poisoned. I have never felt quite so relaxed, before or since. I felt at peace with the world and everything in it. @stevegis_ssg Amazing insights, thanks for sharing. I think everyone probably loves Valium which is why it’s a controlled substance. I think drugs make sense in medical trials to record the human experience. Self-exploration is always valuable. Know thy self. I also think that evolution put us closest to reality but has the accuracy of statistical averaging (like LLMs), so tweaking the fringes is fun, but no further. This is why I think #AI is closer to human intelligence than people think and yet less accurate than people think. People over estimate the accuracy of people because of the limitations of their brain. Some drugs allow you to look at the human hallucination. I don’t know if it’s me or my slight ADHD brain but it demands control. It’s why I fought coffee use so hard for 20 years making myself worse. Since concluding its medication and not addiction I’ve found my dose and have gained incredible mental clarity over what was before. I believe this is what is known as the ‘normal’ experience. Coffee and alcohol are my tweaks but controlled.

@stevegis_ssg to each their own, to preface, but yeah, I have always been afraid enough of the potential for abuse that I've just not tried them. I don't have the right kind of self-control. I can enjoy an occasional alcoholic drink because I will fully forget alcohol exists unless I'm actively reminded. Even if I have it in my cupboard. If I had the kind of relationship with any kind of drug that I have with coffee, though... can't risk it. (edit: any other kind of drug? also, hope it's okay to reply to a necroboosted post, but lmk if in the future I should refrain.)

@stevegis_ssg oof. Way way back in the day when you would get the cocktail shot for sciatic pain that Valium was everything and it hit instantly. My doctor would give me this weird mix of Flexeril, Valium and a steroid at the muscle site and the first time I was like where has this been all my stoned and stupid life and immediately my brain went to this is bad. This is bad. This is bad. We are never doing this again unless we’re in so much pain that we can’t walk or sit.
