@stevegis_ssg to each their own, to preface, but yeah, I have always been afraid enough of the potential for abuse that I've just not tried them. I don't have the right kind of self-control. I can enjoy an occasional alcoholic drink because I will fully forget alcohol exists unless I'm actively reminded. Even if I have it in my cupboard. If I had the kind of relationship with any kind of drug that I have with coffee, though... can't risk it. (edit: any other kind of drug? also, hope it's okay to reply to a necroboosted post, but lmk if in the future I should refrain.)

@iris @stevegis_ssg Hard same on the lacking the right kind of self control with certain things. I realized really, really early on in college that I'd have to be very careful with weed because that lovely floaty "everything is mellow and great" feeling was much too appealing to a person with untreated depression and adhd (neither was diagnosed until my second attempt at a sophomore year). Fortunately/unfortunately my dad was dying of lung cancer my freshman year, so I categorically refused to smoke and this was in the days before easy access to gummies etc. was a thing, so the only available option for most of college was the occasional brownie I could cadge off someone. Until a couple of us made the world's most potent batch of green dragon my senior year. Don't let a couple of organic chemists at your drugs unless you like them really strong kids.
