@timonsku I love tthis website! I like how its pretty much all amercian plugs until it gets down to Guyana or Brazil. I also kinda want the US to adopt the jumbo Brazilian 20 amp plug so we can get 5 more amps of juice off our power strips :)

@timonsku that was fascinating. For all my years I've lived with the knowledge that UK operates at 240/50. This chart showed us at 230/50. An angry Google session educated me in the 1994 EU harmonisation that defined a new 230v standard wide enough to cover EU at 220 and UK at 240. I am now giddy with this knowledge 🙂

@mark @lbehm Thx, in the article I read about the standardisation, it says that in reality UK voltage is still normally around 240v - the standard allows anywhere between 220 and 240 as compliant. This meant neither EU or UK needed to change infrastructure, a classic (and pragmatic) accommodation to avoid trade friction.

@timonsku NB: C is supposed to be the Europlug, even though its prongs aren't straight (as in the graphic) and sockets just fitting the Europlug are uncommon.

@timonsku As a French a reckon the british plug is the more sensible choice for a universal plug (well built, slim powerstrips) but I would accept them to replace all the other plugs at one condition : that UK stops bothering the whole world and starts driving the right way ie. on the right and not on the left.
