I wanted to be "belter" but that was taken so "b3lt3r" it was.The avatar? Poe from S01 of Altered Carbon just because it's a cool character and I love the art style

My local garage has proudly informed me that they're working to save the environment by stopping washing the car when I bring it for service. But be of great joy - the money saved will go towards complimentary: Puncture repairs, seasonal, battery and brake health checks. Colour me simple but I'd expect 3 of those were part of the service I pay £400+ for.... who knew. In reality - I'm most annoyed on behalf of the lad who did the washing who I expect is now without work. Bastards.

Well. I ended my Mullvad subscription and switched to Proton. Technically it's nowhere near as good as Mullvad but I could not stomach enabling the fascist to promote a far right party so here we are. Mullvad need to remove any financial connect with him and I'll gladly go back.

#infosec Infosec people - I believe I've seen that Whatsapp now allows signup with only a username rather than mobile # but I've seen no analysis of what that actually means. Can anyone point me at something explaining what isn't being said? I closed all Meta accounts years ago for obvious reasons but Whatsapp is sadly the de-facto comms tool for many people I know and businesses.

I get an insane amount of satisfaction from the ever more desperate emails entreating me to &quot;come back&quot; to services I left. Mate, if you&#39;d just stayed as what I signed up for I&#39;d likely still be there even if prices went up by around inflation. But you all got greedy enough to make me look around. Sometimes I found a different provider and sometimes I just realised I didn&#39;t need you. Don&#39;t be evil FFS.

#matrix I really, really like the ESS flavour especially now I can run multiple instances side by side, but my God - the insistence on device verification and encryption will kill it in the mass market. I have set up a public, unencrypted video room and just want to send a link to someone so we can chat. For this to happen I need to create an account for them and then try to explain the login and verification process using a recovery key. For non-techies this is utter kryptonite. FFS matrix!
