  Neon synths class at Urbanglass went well. As per usual, I was too busy teaching to get any quality photos- but I did snap this one of the chaotic synth table with blink neon tubes half cleaned up.   bread update- My baking has slowed down since I have been busy, with many breads not getting the optimum gluten network build up from me missing the prime kneading / stretching times. I am however mastering fermentation times and predicting my starter behavior. Bread 58 I split into two doughs, and after forgetting to salt the first one (Florence style) I salted the second, folded butter into it and coated the outside in wheat bran.   As I look at monetizing some of the little software tools I am making, I have been told by some of the people I show them to, to look into copyrights. I do admire a good idea, and more and more- a good business model that keeps people honest and away from the creepy surveillance capitalist ways. When chatting with some folks and looking into open source licenses, I find myself drawn to closed custom licensing agreements that would lend themselves to one time purchases of self hostable server...

  Its been fun teaching the first weeks class here at Columbus Glass Art Center. Here are my whiteboard drawings for how a variety of bombarder/ choke systems are wired, and how the neon torches work. Katie, my amazing scientific glassmaking TA is upgrading the pump arm. She was going to do more, but the art center has not gotten their usual grants, so no funds were available for glass valves. Oh well, we will just make do with what we have :). And we are making do!   Urbanglass has a lil' fundraiser party coming up next Tuesday. I am making some battery powered neon wands for their photo booth... or just for walking around the party and luminously enchanting things :) Yesterday I picked up the glass and started at about 1:30 with what I thought was the most difficult parts, (Sun and rainbow), but I actually cruised through both of them and bent both of them in about 2 hours.   I have been helping some artist friends stopping by the studio make new work. They come for a day or two with loose ideas and we work on them turning them into neon ideas. These ones are from my friend Kels Mayo who has a new studio with three highly visible windows in Utica, NY. They wanted them to be Yes, Maybe, No windows and be made entirely of scraps to their handwriting.
