fellow trans women: did you have certain outfits or items of clothing you wanted through the years? for me, when I was very young, I wanted bright pink corduroy overalls. At some point later on, it was waffle knit long sleeve shirt with flowers on. I longed for hoodies with thumb holes. Mary Jane’s were a fascination. More recently at some point in my late 20s I really wanted a black pinafore dress with a white turtleneck.

@what When I was in my twenties, I was kind of obsessed with women wearing cargo pants or similar, in a way that was very clearly wishing I could look like that. Of course, I could wear cargo pants, but i wouldn't get that look because it was more about the shape of the underlying hips and butt. Also, yes, hoodies with thumb holes.

@what I spent a long time as a teenager really wanting a one-piece swimsuit, but being confused because it wouldn't look any good on me. Also, I got the pinafore dress and turtleneck, though in my case it's sea green and black :blobcatangel:

@what Leg wear. Nylons, thigh highs. Anything tight fitting, stripey, or unbelievably soft. 😖

@what fitted tank tops made with the right kind of fabric in bright colors. Yoga pants. Sports bras. Fancy dresses, like always. High school dances killed me because I was so jealous of my friends' (and on the rare occasion I had one, dates') dresses. I would always look at pictures from dances and dream of being the girls I was pictured with, wearing their dresses.

@what my favourite pair of jeans in first grade was purple, and in hindsight I think Mom might have found it in the girls section of the department store. In high school I was utterly fascinated with the way one of my classmates would use pencil crayons to put her hair in a bun.
