@vaurora@mstdn.social how much of this is “emergency” work? Cause it’s really hard to keep consultants busy if you need to wait for customer emergencies / you’ll need other sources of revenue. I can think about a couple of examples that either had to pivot (move from consulting to training), or the consulting is more “let’s create this transformational project where we fix processes & people via new software adoption” (and maybe problems aren’t that technical or far reaching)

@vaurora@mstdn.social also very interested if you find any good answers I used to do this kind of thing back when I lived in Sweden, mostly by simply making friends with people who do things that are important, but not primarily on the computer - it helps that my dad is a music teacher and works for the Church of Sweden, and you don't get much more offline than that

@vaurora@mstdn.social Sounds ike how Thoughtworks used to be, And their origin story is Roy Singham, a union organiser, wanted to make a company and figured there were a bunch of smart people in Software. They spent 25 years embracing Agile and Open Source before being bought by a private equity firm in 2017 ( https://martinfowler.com/articles/201708-tw-sale.html ). When I was there they did a kind of project rescue model where they'd put in talented people at all levels in all depts to help "steer the ship".
