Everyone agrees LLMs produce sloppy code. But every production incident and bug fix I’ve been involved with over the past year has been caused by good old-fashioned human-written and human-reviewed code. We produce plenty of sloppy code ourselves.

@oldmankris@mastodon.xyz sure, sometimes piss could get into the apple juice and it'd be people's fault. but the machines we're installing to make apple juice sometimes randomly make piss and we can't stop it or control it. it's just part of how it works.

@oldmankris@mastodon.xyz A year ago, I would have agreed with the premise, but not now. The LLMs have improved their output and I've improved my input. I think working with LLMs is reducing my slop!
