@veronica I forget if this is the third or fourth AI bubble. The first was the Expert Systems one back in the late 1980's. This one is so much bigger and when it pops it will be so much more painful, but once the blood has dried, we can all get back to doing useful things.
When someone rants globally about AI, I suggest they disable their spell checker... 😂

@alan @veronica I remember a lot of Rules Engines were the thing in the lates 90s & early noughts. Not many claimed it would be AGI, but they were one of many things seen as a replacement for human programmers/developers. "Our business folk will just go in and update the rulesets instead, and we won't have to pay those pesky programmers"

@alan We have a "random" chat channel at work, and there's a lot of AI talk there. It ranges mostly from skeptical to moderate, and I haven't seen much hype. Lot's of old school IT people there. That's where I got the article from anyway.
