I’ve been reflecting a lot on walkability of a town from the perspective of a child. I have a test I run every place I visit: can you give your 7 yo child 5 euro, ask them to go buy bread at a bakery 1km away and be confident that they will: - find their way after walking with them a few times and - not get killed by an SUV driver. I have visited many towns and cities in Europe and cannot think of a single one that passes the test. Can you? Where is it? (please boost for science)

You wonder if these folks bought a pallet of stuff, they are extreme couponers, these are "falling off the back of a truck", someone has a shoplifting habit and has to bleed off the stuff they don't need, or they're actually buying these at wholesale prices and thinking they can make a profit 🤔 #random #garagesales

Subsidize cars, not food! /s Tony Keller wrote in the G&M yesterday that NY Mayor Mamdani’s city-run groceries are a disaster because it’s just subsidizing food. He points to zoning rules that restrict shop sizes as being a key driver of high food costs. Meanwhile Shaun Micallef writes that Toronto is being unfair in restricting subsidized on-street parking for new multiplex residents. Taken together, one could conclude it’s right and natural to subsidize parking. Ruinous to subsidize f...

@aislerhq@aisler.social I built a litter tray on a load cell for my old cat that had several issues and I wanted to track his weight. It's just two wooden panels with the load cells that are placed under the litter box and an ESP32 S2 based PCB with some parts for the load cell, a display and a knob. I also added a buzzer, so it always plays a nice melody when the cat did its business 🐈️ 💩 🤣 The measurements are stored in a CSV file on the ESP32's flash memory and can be displayed with t...

Why did she throw me away The CPTSD is back. This time cuz of her. Everyone who is friends with me knows who I mean by this point. Won't drag this into a fedi drama tho. But I hope that you're happy that the CPTSD I was struggling with because of being thrown away by someone I love without any attempts at communication or asserting boundaries before throwing me away and declaring me Bad, which last happened a bit over a year ago, is back. Just different face in the flashbacks now. I wou...
