#WhatDidYouPlayMondays I watched the movie Arrival again recently so I've been thinking about language a bit more. Learning the iconography of a complex game can be a bit of a hurdle. Of course a well designed game will reuse common icons from other games but you still have to learn which ones are present. Another level with learning games with different players is that they may have pet names for a resource. In the case of Galactic Cruise my hosts called the advertising resource WiFi because the icon is an antennae with waves. Not much of an issue and delightfully silly but you still have to get used to the fact that promotion of you cruises and activities is a resource and that locally it's are called WiFi (pronounced wigh figh). One premise of Arrival is that a language can change the way you think. Not sure how to prove this other than if the process of learning a new game gets easier.
