Lately, I've been getting pretty tired of seeing people from different countries put down Koreans' looks with the stereotype that "Koreans all get plastic surgery," while claiming that people from their own country are naturally better-looking. Putting aside the fact that assuming every attractive Korean has had surgery is a stereotype, plastic surgery is a personal choice. Having it doesn't automatically mean someone is insecure about their appearance, nor does it give anyone a reason to shame them. I also don't understand why Korean beauty standards themselves—looking youthful, having lighter skin, etc.—need to be shamed. People say "everyone is beautiful in their own way," yet somehow Korean standards of beauty are treated as something that shouldn't even be accepted. It's especially frustrating when Koreans haven't done anything to these people, yet suddenly you see crowds of them showing up just to tear Koreans down. #Korean #Beauty #Stereotypes #plasticsurgery #CulturalDifferences #MediaLiteracy
