Can someone advise me (or point me to reliable online resources) on building a #stereo #sound system with my #Linux #Ubuntu (software, hardware, amplifier, connections, digitizing my CDs, etc.)? I have zero expertise/experience with that so far. Re-posts will be highly appreciated.

Next:fixing the tape player. First issue: the old belts have degraded into a thick black goo. Yuck. #repair #stereo

Well, $$ expensive full kit for belts. Wonder if there is another source for this. Since the last time I played a tape was a couple of decades ago, lol. May try a cheap generic belt kit first (though one of those is apparently longer than generics... 210mm?), before shelling out $55 (also have to pay shipping). Also will get the CD working FIRST. #aiwa #repair #stereo

Disk 3! CD changer is working, albeit... very slow. The CD player works, but it is very sensitive to movement or vibration. But, that might just be all CD players. Had to clean everything twice, and also lubricated spinning things with some teflon lubricant. (this one, public domain, thanks to the Library of Congress). #stereo #repair
