🇫🇷 Bonjour! Saint-Willibrord, un moine anglais est à l'origine de la ville d'Echternach et d'un des plus grand monastère bénédictin d'Europe. Appelé aussi Saint-Willibrord d'Utrecht car il fut le premier évêque de la ville néerlandaise, il a terminé sa vie à Echternach où il repose. En témoignent aujourd'hui la basilique et les immenses bâtiments alentours. Echternach est aussi le théatre d'un pélerinage en forme de procession avec une façon particulière d'avancer, un pas en avant, deux pas en arrière! On avance pas vite à ce rythme! Une expression est née indiquant quelqu'un ou quelque chose qui n'avance pas vite! Bon samedi! 👋 🇬🇧 Good morning! Saint-Willibrord, an English monk, is at the origin of the town of Echternach and one of the largest Benedictine monasteries in Europe. Also called Saint-Willibrord of Utrecht because he was the first bishop of the Dutch city, he ended his life in Echternach where he rests. This is evidenced today by the basilica and the immense surrounding buildings. Echternach is also the scene of a pilgrimage in the form of a procession with a particular way of moving forward : one step forward, two steps back! We're not moving quickly at this pace! Pour ce #StatuenSamstag un buste de Léopold de Saxe-Cobourg-Gotha, devenu le 21 juillet 1831 Léopold Ier Roi des Belges. 🇬🇧 Next Tuesday, the Belgian will celebrate their national day. For this #StatueSaturday a bust of Leopold of Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha, who became Leopold the Ist, King of the Belgians on July 21, 1831.
