PSA for #Slack users: they've added an option to disable that horrible new URL display shortening nonsense, under Preferences > Advanced > "Shorten external links". Unfortunately it only affects your messages not others, but still.

Ok, as an alternative to Discord, Chatto (https://github.com/chattocorp/chatto) is looking rather promising.

• can be easily self hosted

• Paid hosting available in EU (better privacy protection)

• Written in Go

• mobile apps on roadmap

• web app is good on both mobile and desktop browsers

• one client can connect to multiple servers

I have a demo instance running on my homelab and I could see opening this up to my friends using tailscale funnels.
