To get to Rinkeby and Drottningholm, I used public transport. The underground train system was easy to understand and use, and the trains were clean and comfortable. Using the bus was a little more challenging, but the transportation workers were happy to help me. Individual tickets were not cheap, and concessions to the elderly and young notwithstanding, I wondered how big of an expense commuting is for those working in Stockholm.
SL, the transportation authority for the city, makes much of the public art in the underground stations. I did not go to enough stations to take in this part of the system. I did, however, get the impression that less of the wall space in the system is covered with advertising compared to the Underground in London or the Metro in Paris. That fleeting impression of mine could be mistaken though.
Even though I did not use it much, I was glad to see that Stockholm has an efficient and comprehensive public transport system.
How much of a problem is car use in Stockholm? How many people in Stockholm and Sweden in general have fallen under the malign spell of the oversized US style SUV?
