My foremost loves are birds and birding, but almost anything in the natural world interests me. I've gone through periods where I was pursuing (as a hobby) butterflies, amateur astronomy, photography, even geology...but I have always found my way back to birds. All photos I post were taken either by me or my wife. I live in eastern North Carolina in the USA.

While exploring the tropical wilds of Key West, FL I stumbled across this primeval creature which seemed to be guarding the Hilton Garden Inn parking lot. We warily kept eye contact and parted in peace.
