#NowPlaying The Who “Live at Leeds” This is the new 2LP 45rpm 180g AP all analogue cut from the original masters. Gone is the flimsy-ass file-folder sleeve, and now a beautiful gatefold It even comes with a packet of cool ephemera. The downside of 45rpm tho… 2 songs a side. Highly flippy. But the audio quality is great. Not a lot of live recordings from this era sound good. Ok, last of the night before I go to my SACD collection. #NowPlaying Etta James ‘Tell Mama’ This is the recent 180g Atlantic 75 pressing, and whoooooooo boy, it’s lovely. Her voice is so intensely compelling. It’s a mono, but it does that depth thing that good mono recordings have. All the instruments are clear, and have space around them. Note, I’m playing it via a stereo cart, out two speakers, so not eeking out the full potential. #RealMusicByRealMusicians #EttaJames

#NowPlaying Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Live at The Ritz 1981 Considering the source, this is a pretty great version. I’ve had this on shitty bootleg cassette for forever. The energy of the band is GREAT! Joan fucking RULES. It’s funny though to hear her voice so young and girlish. Her modern recordings are in a much lower register. Damn this is such a great concert.
