This morning in #Amiko, the community #RailsFork:

  1. 138 people now in the Matrix space at https://matrix.to/#/#amiko:matrix.org

  2. We've had success in running some major #Rails apps on experimental forked versions of both rails and railties, and at running our equivalent of rails new.

  3. We're building community governance using Sociocracy: https://sociocracy30.org/

  4. Work progresses on website, brand, and determining a non-placeholder name

Some updates and stats for #Amiko (#Rails fork): ~650 boosts for the “this is happening” post. That’s *huge* numbers for the Fediverse, in my experience. 98 people in the matrix space as of right now. Should break 100 shortly. Code exploration has started, we’re working out how to do this. A couple years ago, I wanted to be able to explicitly define configuration on a #rails app, and have that provisioned from multiple possible sources (environment variables, or config file). That gave SmartConfig: https://codeberg.org/dmathieu/smart_config Fast forward to now, and the awesome benefit of having an explicitly defined config: auto-generating the doc for the #cookifed available configuration is straightforward. https://cookifed.dev/docs/self-host/config/

Rails is launching a "reference apps" page. There are hundreds of open-source #rails apps, but they only found 3 ... and they're all maintained by (racist) #DHH's company ... At this point, it's a cult. https://rubyonrails.org/docs/reference-apps

DHH has now gone even more full “send ‘em back where they came from” along with “stop trying to fix climate change” and “AI hypercapitalism yay” I cannot express enough, FUCK THIS WHITE NATIONALIST ARSEHOLE, and anyone not wanting to cut the #Ruby and #Rails communities ties with him should be *fucking ashamed of themselves*.

hi ruby.social 👋 i'm Razvan, rails dev based in barcelona. day job at Velory on rails 8 stuff. after hours i've been building EZLogs (ezlogs.io), a small gem that captures HTTP + Sidekiq + ActiveRecord into one plain-English card per user action. no AI in the path, just deterministic translation. got tired of being the person support pinged to "check what user X did yesterday". so i wrote the thing that translates. happy to be here. #introduction #ruby #rails
