The #FederalAidHighwayAct was signed by Dwight #Eisenhower on #ThisDayInHistory in 1956. Once upon a time, even #conservatives understood investing in #infrastructure paid dividends for all Americans. The #HighwaySystem made holiday travel easier but helped break the #railroads.
