Worked on NetHack 5.0 for m68k some more over the weekend.

It now supports all major Nethack 5 UI features:

  • status hilights
  • HP bar
  • 2 and 3 line status bars
  • sound
  • window positions and fonts customizable
  • optional permanent inventory
  • tiles in menus / inventory
  • overview window
  • fat binary (m68k+PPC)

Still needs some testing + polish, so it's not yet publicly available.

Some enhancements coming to Amiga and Atari too.

My NetHack 5.0.0 Classic Macintosh port is almost ready. It can now also use tile mode and the optimized tile renderer from the Amiga version runs nicely even on lower end Macs (you still need a Mac with at least 8 MB of memory). #NetHack #Macintosh #RetroComputing #Roguelike

Just built and installed NetHack 5.0.0 and holy cats, there's a tutorial now! https://nethack.org/v500/release.html (Fired it up in an ~80x25 xterm for that classic hack feel, though my default xterm font is a bit too modern) #Gaming #NetHack

DAMMIT. There is a new version of Nethack out and there isn't an OpenSUSE nethack package OR a flatpack! Nothing under nethack at all in Discover! ....Do I have to compile Nethack-Qt from source myself? @.@ At least it doesn't update very often, so I won't have to do it very often. (Usually less then once update a year) #nethack #OpenSUSE
