Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park is a major incarnation of what I'm gonna call the Middle Class Knowledge Worker Competency Mythology Hero. We'll call him McKnowhe for short. Dr. McKnowhe isn't the strongest or toughest hero, and he isn't rich. But he's quick thinking, fast on his feat, and a walking encyclopedia about his field & probably a few other things. Unlike other hero archetypes, McKnowhe is almost always paired with his equally badass femme counterpart, Doctor McKnowshe. Dr. Ellie Satler is of course one of the ultimate McKnowshes. • He's rugged but compassionate. He'll totally hug a triceratops.
• He doesn't immediately seem like he'd be good with kids, but he's actually great with them.
• He has little patience for dumb rich people. He'd probably hate Bruce Wayne if they ever met.
• His courage is powered by having a plan & keeping your head, not testosterone.
