In July 2025 we started a web project showing a map listing all of ICE's reported detention centers, with the number of detainees. This data was simply gathered from public records shared by ICE. But since April 9th 2026, ICE stopped sharing this data, entirely. The public can no longer know where ICE's facilities are, and how many people are currently detained. Earlier this year, the US State Department announced it would delete every post on its official X accounts made before Trump returned to office in 2025. Deleting years of previous government posts that should be easily accessible to the public is dangerous and antidemocratic, to say the least.
