Friend and/or Foe - can both be true at the same time? Investigative journalists in Europe suggest China and Russia have been discussing ways and means to blunt StarLink. Reporting indicates China presented a 3-tier plan to the Russians > 1) diplomatic pressure, 2) electronic jamming cyberattacks, and 3) physical destruction of StarLink satellites. Media reports in China suggest the country has built a ground-based microwave weapon capable of targeting satellites in low earth orbits. This could present quite a sticky wicket for E. Musk and Tesla in particular. Tesla, relies heavily on China as a manufacturing base, and is a huge sales market, not to mention is a key part of Tesla's battery supply chain. I’ve been in the satellite industry for over four decades, and in the last of these I’ve been seriously concerned by the explosion in numbers placed in Low Earth Orbit. They also list 4 "disposal failures" which are satellites that died before SpaceX purposefully chucked them into the atmosphere. This includes Starlink 34343 which either exploded or got hit by debris a couple months ago. https://keeptrack.space/deep-dive/starlink-34343 4 out of thousands of launched satellites is pretty good. But when you have nearly 11,000 satellites, you have to operate COMPLETELY PERFECTLY every minute of every day, forever. Please don't fuck up more than you already have, SpaceX.
